Joya Banerjee is a Senior Technical Advisor on Gender at Jhpiego, an organization affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University, where she works on improving access to reproductive, maternal and child health information and services through transforming harmful gender norms, preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV), engaging men as partners, and empowering female health workers. Joya has 14 years of experience in gender, GBV, HIV, adolescent health, RMNCH and corporate social responsibility. She has worked across sectors as a program implementer, researcher, activist, grantmaker, fundraiser and non-profit founding director. She has field experience in 14 low and middle-income countries, particularly South Africa, India, Mozambique, Rwanda and Nigeria. Joya has a BA in Political Science and Human Rights from Barnard College of Columbia University, and a Master of Science in Global Health and Population from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
